It is 70 % of your gross regular pay (Regelentgelt), but never more than 90 % of your net pay. The gross daily basis is also limited by the health-insurance contribution ceiling.
Your share of pension, unemployment and long-term care insurance is deducted. Health-insurance contributions are not levied on Krankengeld, and the recipient does not pay the pension share alone.
Because the daily Regelentgelt is capped at the contribution ceiling, gross Krankengeld tops out at about 128 € per day, or roughly 3,860 € per month before deductions.
For the same illness, statutory health insurance pays Krankengeld for up to 78 weeks within three years, after the period of continued pay from your employer.
This calculator estimates statutory sick pay (Krankengeld), which your health insurance pays when you are unable to work for a long period after your employer's continued pay ends. It is 70 % of gross, capped at 90 % of net and the contribution ceiling.
It then deducts your share of pension, unemployment and care insurance to show the net amount per day and per month. It is an estimate for 2025; your health insurance calculates the binding figure.
