Frequently asked questions
Box 1 income is taxed in progressive brackets: 35.75% up to 38,883 EUR, 37.56% from 38,883 to 78,426 EUR, and 49.50% above. Two payroll tax credits, the algemene heffingskorting (general credit) and the arbeidskorting (labour credit), are then subtracted from the tax, which lowers what you actually pay.
The 30%-regeling lets eligible incoming employees receive up to 30% of their salary tax-free in 2026 (dropping to 27% from 2027). With the toggle on, only 70% of your gross is treated as taxable, so the tax owed falls and your net rises.
No. Vakantiegeld (8% holiday allowance) is shown separately because it is reserved through the year and usually paid as a lump sum in May. The net per month and per year here are based on your regular gross salary.
No, it is an estimate. It excludes pension premiums, the income-dependent Zvw healthcare contribution, employer costs, and any personal deductions such as mortgage interest relief. Your payslip may differ. Not tax advice.
This calculator applies the official 2026 Box 1 brackets for people below AOW age together with the algemene heffingskorting and arbeidskorting to turn a gross annual salary into a net figure per month and per year. It also breaks out the income tax, the two credits, the average and marginal rates, and the 8% vakantiegeld.
An integrated 30%-ruling toggle reduces the taxable base to 70% of gross for eligible incoming employees, a feature most free calculators leave out. Everything runs in your browser; no data is sent to any server. It is an estimate and not tax advice.
