Frequently asked questions
Italy has four IVA rates in 2026. The standard rate (ordinaria) is 22 % and applies to most goods and services. The reduced rate (ridotta) is 10 % and covers hospitality, some food items, passenger transport, and residential renovation. The minimum rate (minima) is 5 % for certain social goods and services. The super-reduced rate is 4 % for basic foods (bread, milk), books, and first-home purchases.
The imponibile is the price before IVA. IVA is calculated as a percentage of the imponibile. The total is imponibile plus IVA. Business invoices in Italy must show all three figures.
Scorporo means extracting the IVA from a gross total (IVA inclusa). The formula is: imponibile = totale / (1 + rate/100). At 22 %: imponibile = totale / 1.22. This calculator performs the scorporo automatically when you select total to imponibile.
Yes. The rates shown (22 %, 10 %, 5 %, 4 %) are the official Italian IVA rates for 2026 as set by DPR 633/72 and subsequent legislation.
