It adds a displacement part (2.00 EUR per started 100 cm³ for petrol, 9.50 EUR for diesel) and a CO2 part that is free up to 95 g/km and then rises through progressive bands.
Cars first registered from 2021, which use the CO2-based scheme. Vehicles registered earlier follow different rules that this calculator does not model.
Diesel cars pay a much higher displacement rate (9.50 versus 2.00 EUR per 100 cm³). This often outweighs their lower CO2 figures, so the total tax is usually higher.
